Kids Need Kiwanis
Mom always told you to observe the Golden Rule, so how about joining a club that's based on doing unto others as you'd have them do unto you?
Our mission is to strengthen San Diego by supporting San Diego's youth. Our Downtown Kiwanis Club has been serving San Diego since 1920 with service projects that respond to our community needs. The projects focus on developing future generations of leaders.
Our members are ordinary people performing extraordinary work. We are creative with our ideas. We are generous with our time. We are passionate about making a difference. And we have fun along the way.

What does Kiwanis mean?
It is derived from an Otchipew American Indian expression “Nunc Kee-Wanis” which according to a translator can mean “We trade,” We share our talents,” “We make a noise,” or “We meet.” The founders of Kiwanis translated it as “We build” and that became their motto until 2005 when they changed it to “Serving the children of the world.”
